The Scottish government represents a number of organizations that sit in self-managed spaces. Communities of practice are intended to cut through hierarchies and provide a way to share knowledge. But life isn’t like the books ... it’s not always that easy.

This talk explores the challenges and successes of the past year building a community at the heart of the Scottish government — from learning how to listen to the community, to navigating the difficulties of finding a platform everyone can access, and managing members’ opposing needs.
